CZECH KORUNA

The official currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech koruna (symbol: Kč, currency code: CZK). It was introduced on February 8, 1993, following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, replacing the Czechoslovak koruna at par. The koruna is subdivided into 100 haléřů, although haléř coins are no longer in circulation. Banknotes are issued in denominations of 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, and 5,000 Kč, and coins are available in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 Kč denominations. While the Czech Republic is a member of the European Union, it has not yet adopted the euro, with many citizens supporting the continued use of the koruna.
